comments: Called MINER, and classified as a Napa Valley Red Wine. This was a tasty wine, reminiscent of a French Bordeaux. A hint more alcohol tasting than what I usually like, but very smooth and fruity for a blend like this. Smells of plum and rich grapes. Drank alone, no meal tie in.

Cabernet Sauvignon: 52%
Merlot: 26%
Cabernet Franc: 21%
Malbec: 1%

2005 Le Volte, Castagneto Carducci
where: Il Forno, saybrook, ct.
comments: Ornellaia philosophy! – an Italian wine with some really nice full bodied flavor. Had some great legs and texture, that really went well with the Bolognese Meat Sauce Dish that I had. Amazing braised beef, really nice chunks…delicious.

2003 Navarra
where: Cigar Party
comments: Super dry. Great with Prime Rib and Stogeees….(cigars). This was a interesting blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet 10% temperanello. It drank very smooth with hearty flavor…but will keep your mouth nice and dry to enjoy all of your food.

comments: Although, this says it is only a Cabernet, it has some Merlot juice to it. I thought for the money and the talk it would be better. I thought it lacked some taste and was not as good as lesser priced Cabs at $22. It is a smooth wine however. Oh well. Also, you should note, my wife who loves Ravenswood, “didn’t necessarily like it”.

It did go down well with pasta and fish and also did it’s job to take the daily edge off.
