Wine Blog & Wine Reviews by The WineGuy

A place to keep tasteful wine reviews of my favorite wines. I started posting wine news to my wine blog for you and everyone else, sometimes it there is humor involved because I drank the whole bottle before I posted....hiccupppp!. But Seriously, It has been a few years now and I have had a lot of friends ask me to recommend different wines from Chile or Spain or Italy or California...and then they want to run out and buy them. So I started keeping track of the wines I like and don't like along with some fun wine facts, wine articles and ratings and wine maps. One day I may even offer wine merchandise here at WineGuys.info. I hope I can help you enjoy the art of wine as much as I do.

But please remember to drink responsibly...cause otherwise you'll find yourself with no wine!

2006 / Cabernet

comments: So, I’ve been away for a while, but have been inspired by my good followers to keep writing reviews…sorry about the break.

The Show is a pretty smooth cab, made by the Rebel Wine Co. out of Cali…I only saw a few at my local packi so I decided someone must like it, and the label was soo old school! It is one of those really thick bottles so when you pour it…it doesn’t feel like it’s getting empty…Cool! Other than that it went well with pizza..and had a plum or cherry overtone. About $16

comments:82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Cabernet Franc, 2% Merlot. Not long in the flavor, but light and smooth. Hints of oak for a finish, but pretty clean.

Rubicon – Niebaum-Coppola

Posted on December 31, 2008 - Filed Under Cabernet | Leave a Comment

Rating: ★★★★★★★★★☆

1995 / Cabernet (Rubicon)
where: Drank it at my parents in Derby on Christmas Eve
comments:Rating: First glass – 4.5 (at best), second glass – easily in the 90’s – just needed to breathe.

So I’ve been sitting on a ‘95 Rubicon from Niebaum-Coppola from a ‘98 visit to Napa. I ran into a sommelier at a holiday party and he suggested I open it up as it’s probably near it’s maturity (if not already on the downside).

So I decided to open it on Christmas Eve…I let it sit out for about 20 minutes before pouring the first glass. I don’t think that was long enough though as I was very disappointed with the first glass. Not much taste or flavor. I was bummed out. But then I had the second glass…WOW! Hints of cherry, plum and vanilla with a nice long finish. It rocked! Lesson learned…it was my first time holding a bottle that long.
